Happy St Patricks day!!!
Yeah this is the tshirt i had on last year, dude looks pissed, maybe someone stole his lucky charms |
First off am i the only one who doesn't know the origins of St Patricks day? Stop shaking your head at my Leprechaunlike innocence and just in case i'm not the only one this is what i found here
Saint Patrick's Day
(Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig) is a religious holiday celebrated internationally on 17 March. It is named after Saint Patrick (c. AD 387–461), the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland. It originated as a Catholic holiday and became an official feast day in the early 17th century. It has gradually become more of a secular celebration of Irish culture.
Other St Patricks Day facts:
- The Toronto Maple Leafs used to be known as the Toronto St Patricks and wore green jerseys
- The original colour associated with Saint Patrick was blue, over the years it changed to green
- He was born in Britain (most of the best things are!) and was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken captive to Ireland as a slave luckily he was told by God to flee and return to Britain but after becoming a priest he returned to Ireland
What are your celebrations for the day going to be blog friends?
Last year we spent the evening in a local pub that was too crowded and too loud and the service was atrocious (must have been bad for me to pull out a big word like atrocious!) but we still had fun with friends, however friends are out of town on the actual day so we are going to have a St Pattys day party for 2
I've decided all food MUST be green today, it must, it must i tell you
Breakfast: We started these kick ass green oatmeal pancakes, they are lime!
Snack: will be a mint green monster which i've already concocted to take with me to work, holy freaking yummmmm
Lunch: left over healthy chinese fried rice with more spinach thrown in
Dinner: will be home made pizza with pesto and green beer!!!
So after i shake my bootie at Zumba we really want to embrace the irish of the day and are planning on watching an Irish classic, Leprechan - bahahahaa ridiculous right?
