Top of the mornin to ya

Happy St Patricks day!!!

Yeah this is the tshirt i had on last year, dude looks pissed, maybe someone stole his lucky charms

First off am i the only one who doesn't know the origins of St Patricks day?  Stop shaking your head at my Leprechaunlike innocence and just in case i'm not the only one this is what i found here

Saint Patrick's Day

(Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig) is a religious holiday celebrated internationally on 17 March. It is named after Saint Patrick (c. AD 387–461), the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland. It originated as a Catholic holiday and became an official feast day in the early 17th century. It has gradually become more of a secular celebration of Irish culture.

Other St Patricks Day facts:
  • The Toronto Maple Leafs used to be known as the Toronto St Patricks and wore green jerseys
  • The original colour associated with Saint Patrick was blue, over the years it changed to green
  • He was born in Britain (most of the best things are!) and was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken captive to Ireland as a slave luckily he was told by God to flee and return to Britain but after becoming a priest he returned to Ireland

What are your celebrations for the day going to be blog friends?

Last year we spent the evening in a local pub that was too crowded and too loud and the service was atrocious (must have been bad for me to pull out a big word like atrocious!) but we still had fun with friends, however friends are out of town on the actual day so we are going to have a St Pattys day party for 2

I've decided all food MUST be green today, it must, it must i tell you

Breakfast: We started these kick ass green oatmeal pancakes, they are lime!
Snack: will be a mint green monster which i've already concocted to take with me to work, holy freaking yummmmm
Lunch: left over healthy chinese fried rice with more spinach thrown in
Dinner: will be home made pizza with pesto and green beer!!!

So after i shake my bootie at Zumba we really want to embrace the irish of the day and are planning on watching an Irish classic, Leprechan - bahahahaa ridiculous right?

So in case you want to be cool like me this fine St Patricks day, here is the recipe for my smoothie because it is Thirsty Thursday you know!

Minty Monster
adapted from Oh She Glows

Ingredients

1 Large frozen banana
1 cup of milk (of your choice, i wouldn't go for green, if you see green milk its probably gone bad not part of the green theme of the day)
1/4 cup of chopped fresh mint leaves
1 tbsp of chia seeds
2 cups of spinach
1/2 tsp of peppermint extract (if you want to amp the minty flavour)
3 cubes of ice

Directions:

1. You know the drill... here is comes... wait for it.... BLEND!!!!!!
2. Do your own personal version of the leprechaun dance around your kitchen resulting in unimpressed looks of "i can't believe you are my owner" from the doodle

Enjoy the day blog friends, and if you forgot to wear green, blue will do just fine as long as you remember the green beer later... after work... obviously... drinking at work is wrong... but now i'm seriously craving beer... and its 7am.... should have put some ale in my pancakes... there is always next year :o)

*** House update

There is nothing more awkward then the person who has toured your house with their real estate agent "dropping" by your office and mentioning he was in your house and recognized you in the photos up around said house and how about you and he make a deal, ummmm 1. this is a wee bit creepy and 2. its not my house its my boyfriends and 3. why am i paying my real estate agent a big commission if i have to deal with the buyer in my office staring me down?  didn't put them off though - they made an offer on the house, its been 2 flippin days!  2 more showings tomorrow - send me positive non eye twitching vibes please :o)

Real Estate Blues

Todays Post is full of things my tummy digested yet i did not photograph, i need to come up with a new Wednesday plan and i'm also whining about real estate (yay for you) and of course another insanely good breakfast recipe, classic post material friends!

What I Ate Wednesday

So there is no way i could share with you what i ate monday like i planned, it was all good till i started on the organic potato chips, then i made individual Lemon Pudding Cakes and calories took the day off because that dessert is like food crack, i can't wait to make it again and show you all!

So Tuesday this is what i inhaled cause it was yet another crazy busy day

Breakfast: Apple raisin Oatmeal, home made peeps, best way to start your day!

Snack: Small banana with a scoop of raw chocolate coconut macaroon, this is another amazing recipe coming your way soon!

Lunch: PC Multigrain Bagel Thin with natural peanut butter, cut veggies on the side and Apple slices to mop up the leftover peanut butter

Dinner: Healthy chinese fried rice, it has tons of veggies, brown rice and tofu, if it tastes as good as it looks i'll be sharing this recipe soon as well!

Dessert: A scoop of snickerdoodle hummus with a handful of organic vanilla cookies (just call me the cookie monster)

Review of prior mentioned food: Probably didn't eat enough considering i ran this morning and i didn't have as many vegetables as i normally like to eat, a green monster would have cured that but alas there was no time before i left for the late shift at work - but this is an entirely honest list of what i ate

I'm going to list the sucky things about selling a house because lets me honest, this is my second time selling a house in less then a year and i therefore consider myself a pro

1. Having to keep your house in tip top condition every freakin second of every freakin day, i once had a showing arranged christmas night for boxing day, really?

2. The necessity to remove your 70 pound dog from your home with very little notice, because lets be honest not everyone wants to be tongued by a giant furry doodle

3. Classic issues like your water heater deciding to break and leak everywhere the first day your house is on the market and not being able to be to fixed until after your first 2 showings, grrreeaaaatttt

4. Realizing that those little brown piles in the back yard are in fact doggie poop and just wishing them away with a very concentrated yet magical stare will not work so you have to drag your little (ha!) blonde ass out there and pick it up *** Update: the doodle wants you blog readers to know she prefers the phrase doggie "presents" apparently poo, its too vulgar

5.  The sudden urge to drink A LOT but the matter of having to hide all the wine bottles from home viewers sounds like too much effort so you just think about drinking... A LOT :o)

I'm kind of obsessed with peanut butter, oh i yearn for the days where i have a large shiny kitchenaid food processor and can make my own nut butters, my heart swells just thinking about it!  Geek alert! Okay i'll stop fantasizing about kitchen appliances now,  todays breakfast recipe is heaven on a plate and i pity the fool who doesn't want to make this stat!

PB & J Breakfast Cookie

Ingredients

1/3 cup of Oatmeal
1 egg white
1/2 banana mashed
1 tbsp of ground flax
1 tsp of chia seeds
1 splenda
Chopped Strawberries
PB for topping
Strawberry Jam for topping

Directions

1. Mix above ingredients except toppings in a bowl
2. Microwave (realize your microwave is in desperate need of a good scrub, wonder if people open microwaves during open houses and if you can legitamately procrastinate cleaning for yet another week)
3. Put on a pretty plate and decorate with those strawberries you bought last week and are DESPERATE to get rid of!

Enjoy!

**********Ummm so news flash i've developed an eyetwitch!!!
Let me tell you this is the most awkward of facial ticks and i keep confusing my clients by talking about current interest rates and then it seriously looks like i'm winking at them, like i might have better rates hidden under my desk somewhere, oh geeez
Please let this house sell fast!

Okay, lets get on to the confessions shall we?

Confession #1: I made 3 orders on lululemon.com in 8 hours

Confession #2: I stopped midclean on Friday realizing that BF will now know i am actually a good cleaner and might make me start cleaning house on a regular basis and seriously considered tracking some mud around to dull down the shine i had created everywhere

Confession #3: I killed 2 plates cleaning kitchen cupboards out

Confession #4: I found salad dressing from 2009 in the fridge... and i put it back

Confession #5: While going for a walk with my sister and our furry babies i didn't just leave my keys in my car, i left it running???

Confession #6: I'm pretty sure there is a monster living in our basement that eats only 1 shoe out of a pair which results in me running around holding one shoe screaming where is my sole mate, where where?

Confession #7: I coerced my family into helping clean our basement with offers of free goodies we no longer used - sister got a rug, parents got luggage

Confession #8: I have a pair of lululemon pants I only use for painting, before you judge please be aweare they are the most hideous shade of blue you have ever seen and i have NO idea why i bought them

Confession #9: I considered divorcing BF on Sunday and we are even married yet, 2 minutes in the tv room painting together and we were having a life or death yelling match over drop cloths, it took 10 hours and only once the room was finished before we made up - that was definitely worth the fighting though :o)

Confession #10: I ate so much cookie dough today that I couldn't bring myself to eat the actual baked cookies but apparently they were amazing, recipe to come!

Confession #11: I thought it was a good idea to change the clocks in the kitchen back at 3am while using the fridge door for light but the fridge kept closing so i kept having to open it meanwhile the microwave and oven were beeping simutaneously and BF finally hollers what on earth are you doing, to which i finally wake up out of my half asleep state and turn on the kitchen light like a sane person, finish the clocks and potter off to bed where i should have stayed in the first place!

So how many hail marys do you think i need for the above list of MY BADS?

Maayybbeee i should be forced to stay home all week and eat my next recipe?

Snicker Doodle Dessert Hummus
taken from thewannabechef

Ingredients

1 can of chickpeas, skins taken off
1/4 cup of maple syrup
1/4 cup of almond butter
2 tbsps of brown sugar
1 tsp of cinnamon
no there isn't vanilla in recipe, how did that get in the shot???

Directions

1. Peel the skins off chickpeas, takes forever but its worth it! (you can watch a really bad Katie Holmes movie called the Romantics while you do it, makes the time go by faster, just, you know, a suggestion!)
2.  Add the maple syrup, almond butter, brown sugar and cinnamon into the bowl
3. Use blender of your preference (mine is an immersion blender cause thats how i roll) and blend all ingredients together
4. Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and eat with your favourite healthy cookie, i choose organic vanilla cookies with cookie monster on the front, please don't judge

Mr. Clean & Mrs. Not So Clean

Weekend was a blur!
Here are some quick random facts about it

- Ate healthy but didn't count calories!
- Skipped the gym for 3 days, eeekkkkkk but felt okay because i ate well
- Had great family dinner which involved a lot of laughing when we all discovered damnyouautocorrect.com

- House shopped a little more (still holding out for my pantry)
- Did a little shopping, can't find cute summer dresses anywhere!
- Woke up to -18 celcius this morning and a huge snowstorm brewing for tomorrow
- Hitting Physique 57 and Zumba tonight, have to get my abs toned for Aruba in 6 days!

Okay here is the actual post...
I love my hubby but he is kind of a clean freak, i on the other hand am not, definitely a tidy freak, not a clean freak

Mopping and sweeping and polishing UNDER the runner in the great room? Not something that would ever cross my mind, i mean you can't see it!  Hubby however likes to do it every couple of weeks or so; yet he will leave a windex bottle on the kitchen desk for a month but after fabulously cleaning something he then leaves the broom, mop and polish and rags sitting around the room and that makes me INSANE

See!  Hubby: clean freak Me: tidy freak

So the question is, how do Mr. Clean and Mrs. Tidy (i've changed my title midpost just cause i can!) live together?  Certainly not in perfect harmony!  More like...

A little nagging - ex: for the love of god woman pick up a broom
A lot of sarcastic texts - ex: i hid the dirty cloths u left in sink on ur side of the bed, luvya xox Some patience - ex: even though i've asked you 9 million times to wipe sink after using it i'll remind you again
Tons and tons of love - ex: you are so damn cute when you clean the toilet and gosh i love you when you have to fold the blanket to specific dimensions

You take the good with the bad people, the good with the bad... :o)

I dream of pantrys: My weekend in pictures

Nice 3 day weekend for me this week!  Fridays date night rocked, thai food and "The Fighter" great movie even if it was hubbys pick and i might have put up a bit of a fight

Saturday i hit up zumba and got all sweaty then we headed to Toronto so the boys could enjoy the Leafs game while the GF and i hit up several restaurants and planned our next trip over drinks at each location (the boys weren't impressed and told us we can't plan till we come home from Aruba, ppffttt!!!)

Sunday we did the following...

Shopped for new homes, wheeeeeee this one had a huge walk in kitchen pantry, i'm totally gunning for this house!

Went to blockbuster where we rent one movie and scope out the new releases to download when we get home, teehehe

Tried my first green monster smoothie while checking out golden globe fashion, sooo fricking delicious why haven't i tried them before?
2 cups spinach
1 natura vanilla soy milk drinking box
1/2 tbsp of almond butter
1/4 cup of frozen blueberries
1/2 frozen banana
BLEND!

Tried to strip the sheets from the bed but furbaby looked sad so made up for it with soft blanket, she looks impressed no?

Made roasted garbonzo beans, again - why haven't i tried this before?

Received my new snorkel special edition cool racer back, will post review and pic of me wearing it tomorrow

Hope everyone had a great weekend :o)
