The replacements

Well first off friends i've replaced my bad mood with a much MUCH better one - lululemon upload day on Thursday always helps me improve my mood, so a big LRT (thats short for Love Run Travel, i'm just trying the shortcut out for the first time, whaddyathink?)  shoutout to LuLuLemon, i adore you even if my visa card doesn't!  AND (dramatic pause) today is Friday, can i get a woot woot? Seriously give it to me, i'm hanging by a thread till 4:30pm when i can finally relax with BF for 2 glorious solid days

Plus its hard not to giggle and be in a better mood when you see what people search for and end up at your blog, todays was "inflammation in big mac vs oatmeal" ummm okay sure, welcome inflamed food friend :o)

Since i started this blog BF and i (by that i mean, me alone, BF has a pathetic fear of the grocery store, he claims he can never find anything and will come up with ANY excuse to get out of going, i however can spend hours wandering the aisles, especially the cheese aisle, don't get me started on the cheese aisle) have replaced a lot of our old food with newer healthier alternatives

Here are a few examples

Any questions blog readers? any suggestions of other foods i can replace with better ones? and JUST in case you didn't figure it out, the food on the left is the better one... (this is where you get confused scroll through the pics again and realize hahaha, that donna is trying to be funny, she is about as funny as she is cute in a hat... that would be not at all!)

But enough about what we don't eat anymore - THESE are what we've been eating in large quantities since yesterday -  a whole dwindling pile of yummy Ginger Molasses cookies thanks to this insanely good recipe!

Ginger Molasses Cookies
adapted from here

Ingredients
  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1.5 tsps baking soda
  • 1.5 tsps of cinnamon
  • 1.5 tsps ground ginger
  • dash of salt (i love the word dash, i think my bf is dashing!)
  • 1/2 cup of marg (i use earth balance)
  • 1/4 cup of molasses
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar (hey its brown, totally healthy!)
  • 1 egg white (i might have got some yolk in there and that stuff is NOT easy to separate once its in the effing bowl!)
Directions

1. In a bowl stir together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, salt
2. In a separate large bowl blend with an electric mixer the egg white, brown sugar, margarine and molasses
3. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet mixture (be thrilled for me, we are at 3 directions already woohoo!)
4. Eat a STUPID amount of the cookie dough, its heaven in a bowl
5. Measure out half tbsp and roll into a ball - put a thumb imprint into balls and sprinkle with sugar - i used organic demara sugar

6. Bake for 11 minutes at 350 degrees
7. Wait a minute before removing from pan - i totally ignored this direction and lost the bottom off a few cookies and since they weren't perfect - and i'm a bit of a perfectionist i HAD to get rid of the less then perfect evidence... into... my... tummy... it went!
8. Burn your tongue on cookies because you can't wait to eat them even though you probably ate the equivalent of 12 cookies already in dough (wait that was just me!)

Now its time for pretty outside pictures, you know the ones, where my neighbours watch me and think i'm a total loon and the doodle hovers waiting for me to drop something (she knows what a klutz her mama is!)

Okay, so lets have a moment for my iPhone today, i left the poor thing home alone for 8 whole hours

I'm sorry iPhone, i will never leave you alone again that long
I'm sure the doodle kept you company while i sat at work and tried to be strong
But now we are together again and our time apart has made us stronger
So I will end this ridiculous poem, i don't want to torture my blog readers any longer

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!
