True Story

I spend my weekend with vampires

What did you get up to?

Now I know what you are thinking

Vampires aren't real

And thank goodness for that

I don't think I would look good dead

I look bad enough first thing in the morning

Imagine how I would look all pale and lacking a soul?

Anyway, I still spent my weekend with vampires

They were just courtesy of HBOs True Blood

Tons of my friends watch this show and Amber was kind enough to lend me the first couple of seasons

Just don't watch it with your parents around was everyones advice - its really dirty!

Then the awkward happened

My mum saw the DVD cases and excitedly told me season 4 was starting soon

Yeah

So other then watch the whole first season of the show this is what else we got up to this weekend

FRIDAY

Friday was beautiful, we celebrated our country's birthday and headed to Rockwood just outside Guelph to get our hike on

We followed it with an epic date night, one of those nights were everything goes wrong but you still have fun because you love each other

Went a little like this

Waitress was an airhead who had to be asked to bring us everything including our menus
Found hair in my pizza

Went to batting cage finally (have romantic image of BF having his arms around me showing me how to swing) - balls spit out everywhere but in our direction - batting cage fail!

Cure for everythingwentwrong date? Candle light s'mores and true blood!

SATURDAY Hit the gym and then finalized our appliance search Only took about 12 appliance stores, 4 pissy phone calls, several douches and we finally decided on The Bay to purchase our shiny kitchen items

To celebrate we BBQ'd, drank, had zumba lessons on the deck and then caught the late show of Bad Teacher

LRT movie review
Bad Teacher

Donna: funny, Cameron Diaz is great, Justin timberlake not so much, story has holes but we did enjoy it
Dave: alright 6/10 more of a renter

SUNDAY

Ignored all efforts to work out in favour of buying groceries, tanning in the back yard and playing baseball - THAT IS IT and it was great!!!
_____________________________
So over the weekend we kept it mostly healthy, it's definitely the way of life for us now
One food i'm loving lately is falafel and when I saw this at the grocery store I definitely wanted to give it a try as the ingredients were whole and it was cheaper then making it myself

We topped it with tzatziki sauce some broccoli slaw and spinach in a multigrain wrap
Result - yummy but a weird aftertaste - I'll be making this on my own soon for sure! Stay tuned for the recipe

Okay well I'm off to watch more True Blood, make s'mores and hope Monday never comes - if you are reading this I guess it did tho :oP

Puppy Love

So i'm kind of obsessed with my dog

She is one of the great loves of my life

Even though her chicken farts are legendary

She knows when i need a cuddle

She knows when what i really want is a good long walk in the park

Wait a second, that sounds like something she would really want

Guess that leads me to the fact my dog is a little bit manipulative

In a cute way of course

She knows how to get your attention

I feel like a mum who understands her babies cries only i know what kind of bark means i need to poo, i would like my night time treat, and dear god mummy can we go home yet?

The reason i'm talking about dog lovin?

Because Sydney is getting a new cousin

Her name is Lulu and she is the cutest little thing

Sydney isn't quite so sure

She still hasn't got used to her new cousin (and Lulus new sister) Alice

Outside Alice and Sydney are running buddies and best friends

Inside Sydney would very much like to be left alone thankyouverymuch

But now i've had enough time to forgive my sister for stealing my doggie name

I'm madly in love with the newest edition to our family

Sydney is still deciding

When she has lots to ponder like this she enjoys keeping me company in the kitchen

Remember when i said i was in the kitchen for 8 hours?

Well she stayed with me the whole time (except for the weird bathtub incidents)

Obviously for my good company

Not to stalk dropped bits and pieces of scrap food

Oh no, not for that reason AT ALL

She deems this one of her most favourite things cooked on Monday probably because it contained Peanut Butter!

I will share the recipe soon, once i remember what i did and try to recreate it, lol!

I also created this since i'm obsessed with the Starbucks version and it was going to put me in the poorhouse if i didn't come up with my own version soon!

Don't worry i didn't forget its Thirsty Thursday!!!

Donnas Starbucks be damed Iced Coffee

Ingredients
1 container of unsweetened chocolate almond milk
2 sleeves of starbucks instant coffee (oops probably shouldn't damn the company providing me with one of the ingredients for my drink!)
3 packs of Splenda or your preferred sweetener (sorry guys, but i do love my splenda, you could use stevia or organic sugar if you wish!)

Directions
1. Put all in the almond milk container
2. Shake
3. Make sure the lid is on properly
4. Shake the iced coffee out of your hair because your lid was not on properly!
5. Pour over ice one cup at a time, 45 calories baby!!!!!!!!!!!

So yesterday TRX was cancelled boo boo boooooo so Christina and I went to the UFC class where it was non stop exertion for 45 minutes straight and since we are gluttons for punishment we went to Physique 57 after, but little did we know an instructor from Guelph was teaching and we got our asses handed to us in a not so pretty way

I got home and could only make it up 3 of the 4 stairs that leads to our living room!  I'm not kidding, i really wish i was, my body is still shaking

My eats were still super good today even though BF and I had the day off together which is usually our down fall, we want yummy food when we get to hang out with each other!  I have made 2 epic (Daves words) vegan dinners in a row, very proud of myself!!!

Okay thats all for me, have a great Thursday!

Ps: We missed you at UFC Monica, next week you are SO coming with us!!!

Follow my Footsteps

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I am a bad blogger and have about a zillion posts to catch up and comment on, So if i haven't commented on your blog in a couple of days, I still love you AND your fabulous blog

Yesterday I woke up after an excellent dream that consisted of me running barefoot in some kind of crazy marathon and the first thing i thought about was...

Today... I RUN

Pretty brazen huh?

Very decisive as well

I'm decisive in a lot of places in my life

Like how the brick i like is WAY better then the brick BF likes for the new house

However...

*Deep sigh here*

I am not that decisive when it comes to restaurant menus

That was the understatement of the year

I always ask to order last

And i inevitably want what someone else gets

But this morning

This morning I was decisive

And i went for a run

I'm hoping you will Travel with me Tuesday with me on my run

Get it?

This is me trying to get out of not having more Aruba pictures edited so this is how i'm filling in my Tuesday Travel post

I'm sneaky like that

Sneaky AND Indecisive at restaurants if you are keeping track

And if you have followed the blog long enough you know i have a small head as well

Now we are all caught up, lets get started!

The running adventures of Donna & Sydney

Fun shadow shot at the start of the run
Tight leash = squirrel spotting, one of these days she will pull my arm out of the socket, if she ever ACTUALLY caught a squirrel i guarantee you she would ask it for a tummy rub
Why does this path seem never ending? Ohhh anyone like that movie Never Ending Story?  I did not like it, that dog dragon thing scared the bejesus out of me!
Lets have some fun, this was right before a bicyclist rode past me and i dropped the phone in fright

If you want the best case every BUY this, i drop my phone at LEAST once a day!

YAY park, almost home!
This is the doodles "you are the worst mum ever for making me run THAT far mummy" pose
I love love love when she sits like this, she looks like a little person
Close up: this is her i just rolled in grass but i still look cute face
Stretch, admire cute lululemon pants
Officially thank your running partner
Hydrate on the deck while worshipping the sun, where have you been all spring mr. sun?
Realize you should have hydrated WAY more and decide this $5 cup of caffeine is the only way to feel better , sometimes you have to take one for the team, errr thats my excuse, i just really love skinny caramel machiattos :o)
Reward yourself with Winners goodies, its TOTALLY necessary in the post run  recovery!
