True Story

I spend my weekend with vampires

What did you get up to?

Now I know what you are thinking

Vampires aren't real

And thank goodness for that

I don't think I would look good dead

I look bad enough first thing in the morning

Imagine how I would look all pale and lacking a soul?

Anyway, I still spent my weekend with vampires

They were just courtesy of HBOs True Blood

Tons of my friends watch this show and Amber was kind enough to lend me the first couple of seasons

Just don't watch it with your parents around was everyones advice - its really dirty!

Then the awkward happened

My mum saw the DVD cases and excitedly told me season 4 was starting soon

Yeah

So other then watch the whole first season of the show this is what else we got up to this weekend

FRIDAY

Friday was beautiful, we celebrated our country's birthday and headed to Rockwood just outside Guelph to get our hike on

We followed it with an epic date night, one of those nights were everything goes wrong but you still have fun because you love each other

Went a little like this

Waitress was an airhead who had to be asked to bring us everything including our menus
Found hair in my pizza

Went to batting cage finally (have romantic image of BF having his arms around me showing me how to swing) - balls spit out everywhere but in our direction - batting cage fail!

Cure for everythingwentwrong date? Candle light s'mores and true blood!

SATURDAY Hit the gym and then finalized our appliance search Only took about 12 appliance stores, 4 pissy phone calls, several douches and we finally decided on The Bay to purchase our shiny kitchen items

To celebrate we BBQ'd, drank, had zumba lessons on the deck and then caught the late show of Bad Teacher

LRT movie review
Bad Teacher

Donna: funny, Cameron Diaz is great, Justin timberlake not so much, story has holes but we did enjoy it
Dave: alright 6/10 more of a renter

SUNDAY

Ignored all efforts to work out in favour of buying groceries, tanning in the back yard and playing baseball - THAT IS IT and it was great!!!

So over the weekend we kept it mostly healthy, it's definitely the way of life for us now
One food i'm loving lately is falafel and when I saw this at the grocery store I definitely wanted to give it a try as the ingredients were whole and it was cheaper then making it myself

We topped it with tzatziki sauce some broccoli slaw and spinach in a multigrain wrap
Result - yummy but a weird aftertaste - I'll be making this on my own soon for sure! Stay tuned for the recipe

Okay well I'm off to watch more True Blood, make s'mores and hope Monday never comes - if you are reading this I guess it did tho :oP

Hey Girl???

Happy Monday Friends

I can put happy and monday in the same sentence because its a long weekend here in Ontario and I don't have to go to work today!

And no the title isn't referring to a random boy band song

I'm directly quoting someone who attended the garage sale on Saturday

Oh yes, someone actually yelled across our driveway "HEY GIRL" how much is this?

But lets rewind and start the weekend at Friday

Weekend Recap!

My mum was super excited by my post Friday revealing we were going to Milestones for dinner!

We enjoyed these yummy appetizers upon arrival while we waited for my sister and her husband who had accidentally gone to the wrong Milestones... have i mentioned my sister and i are naturally blonde?

Dinner was AHMAZING, i didn't even photograph as i was too intent on eating it pronto!  My mum and I split the lamb dinner and then chicken curry, oh so good

Donna Confession: I love brown rice and its all we eat at home but i honestly forgot how great white rice tastes, it was a nice treat... a treat that i will fantastize about every time i eat brown rice from now on ;o)

So dinner was fabulous, the service not so much, our waiter did admit that he was new but at one point there were 12 empty glasses sitting at the top of the table and no one had taken them away so my sister was so irritated she moved them to a random shelf, it took 20 minutes every time we asked for a soda refill, 45 minute to get our first drinks after we arrived, no steak knives, and lets just say we were no longer a priority table after having to complain so many times, luckily the great company and the divine food made it easier to still enjoy the meal
Mum & Dad and Katie & Chris

Donna & Dave
Really babe???

Yeah attempt 2 wasn't much better!

After dinner we said our goodbyes only to surprise my mum back at our parents house with Dairy Queen icecream cake - nothing beats this cake!!!

Saturday we were up bright and early for the garage sale

End results were

1 massive sunburn + 3 crazy buyers + mostly normal people = $500 dollars

Crazy Buyer #1: I want your picture for $5, i only like the frame
Me: Ummm no sorry, its a really nice picture and its worth a lot more
1 hour later
Crazy Buyer #1: I still want your picture for $5
Me: Yeah, so no, i'm still not giving it to you for that price, someone will want the picture AND the frame
4 hours later
Crazy Buyer #1: Hey the picture is still here, i'll give you $5
Me: NO!!!!!!!!!!
Crazy Buyer #1: I'll come back when you close up
Me: If its still here i will put it on Kijiji (online community sale) so please don't bother

3 hours later Crazy Buyer came back looking for car manuals we never had
Welcome to the land of Garage Sales!

Crazy Buyer #2: Hey Girl???
Me: Yes, can i help you with something
Crazy Buyer #2: Girl, how much is this rug
Me: Hold on a sec, i accidentally wore Lululemon and not my maids outfit, i'll be right back!

Crazy Buyer #3: Owwwww your driveway hurts
Me: I see how you might say that since you aren't wearing shoes and we have a lot of gravel driveways out here in the country
A ton of things had gone by this point!

]
We are a book loving family - i am referred to as the L family library i buy and read SO many!

My dad made the mirror and i wish we had somewhere in the new house to put the antique french doors!

So sad to see the disco ball go, its just soooo sparkly even though we never had any reason to use it!

We used the garage sale time to try to pick out some paint colours for the kitchen

Closer look of our granite, gorgeous no?

After the garage sale we stopped in at the new house to look around - we have a roof!!!

Then it was time to head to Ryan and Amys for a delicious BBQ and a 4 hour game of Catch Phrase, we are kind of obsessed and I would like to mention Amy and I make a kick ass team, we beat the boys like 6 games to 3 or something hilarious like that
Donna and Amy are green, Dave and Ryan are Blue - kicked ass i tell you!

Have i mentioned how bad i am at playing games? I get uber competitive and after that much Catch Phrase i could hardly talk from yelling about bad behavior coming from the boys - they cheated several times and i let it be known very loudly i wasn't having it!

Sunday we went to the house with our parents again to get some advice on stucco colours - when i say advice i mean trying to get everyone to agree that my opinion is the right one!

Dave and I went to the movies and saw Bridesmaids

LRT Movie Review
Bridesmaids

Really funny, even with several awkward scenes that were totally cringe worthy!  The actors and actresses were crazy funny and thanks to the movie i'll never go to a brazillian restuarant before going into a bridal store EVER

Rest of the day was spent just enjoying our time together, our schedules only give us 2 days out of 14 together so we like to make the most of it and enjoy lots of cuddles with silly tv movies and Thai take out

Bibs aren't just for babies

Hi Hi!

All i can say is thank goodness i write posts the night before because i have a nightmare headache today and all i want to do is bond with my duvet and pvr :oP

Here is my Weekend Recap!

Lookie here a picture of me post run, i did it!

So how was everyones weekend?

Thats really great!

So now we have caught up

Lets talk about the 5K I did this weekend!

Can i get a woot woot?

Its okay i'll wait while you woot (new AWESOME phrase i just created, you can thank me later)

Alright, i'll quickly sum up the rest of the weekend so we can get on to the race

Friday I went for a run and then went to work and then this might have happened :oS

Its okay, sometimes you just have to go with what your body wants, especially when its PMSee

LRT Movie Review
The Dilemma

This movie was alright, Vince Vaughn is starting to annoy me though, his ramblings are just a little much now he is a grown up
Pretty heavy subject matter with a few laugh out loud moments
Not super good movie but not super bad
How was that for a helpful educated movie review? Sorry!

This helps mellow stressy PMSee Donna out, mmmm beer!

Saturday i worked some more and then came home and iced my leg while giving Sydney cuddles

Okay that was pretty dull - its okay, i acknowledge it

Lets move on to RACE DAY!!!

First there was Race Day Breakfast, just looking at this picture makes me hungry again!
This is Whole Wheat Flatbread topped with Peanut Butter, Apple Butter, Sunflower Seeds & Raisins

Then i took Fur baby for a walk and tried to ignore the wet sidewalks

And focus on the spring around me

It was hard having to tell the Doodle she wasn't going to race with me! I made up for it later with a fabulous game of chase mr. rhino!

So once i was ready i acted like a idiot in front of the bathroom mirror like usual

Do i look excited and a little bit rapper??

Well this is how i really felt!  That and i noticed how badly i needed to tidy up our bathroom, teehehee

So off i went to pick up Lesley this is us getting ready in the car!

My stomach was a little wonky but i was more excited then scared

So let me tell you about this race
It was the Brantford Classic and there was a 5K and 10K which raised $ for Brantford Schools
Compared to the Terry Fox run that Katie and I ran last year, this race was way more advanced
We had bibs, yyyaaaaayyyyy (i've always wanted to run a race with a bib), and we also had timing chips!  i got a free tshirt and a drink and lunch but i didn't feel like partaking in  a burger and pop so i skipped that part :oP

We warmed up in the car then ran into our friend Hilary who ran the race with her hubby and adorable daughter Ali

Since Dave had to work and my parents were puppysitting Alice, Lesley's husband and kids stalked us via minivan along the course, i'm really excited to see some of those photos since we didn't always see him before he had taken quite a few photos!

And we were off, soooo many people

HAD to take a running shot for Katie & Lynsey who dropped by work Saturday and said i must must must take ridiculous photos and blog about them (lol, like its ever a question, we all know i like to make a fool of myself!)

We kept a steady pace and walked for 1 minute for every 10 we ran, and even though i got a cramp, i ran through it, i think it was from not keeping a steady pace as we were constantly weaving in and out of runners and people who would just randomly stop running and start to walk creating a crazy game of dodge and weave!  The last 1km was a hill and towards the end i was definitely starting to wilt but adrenaline kicked in and we raced across the finish line at 36:50 and 261 out of 970 runners :o)

Somehow we missed the water station so we were dying of thirst by the time we finished but i'm SO proud of us, we only decided to do this race on Tuesday!!!!!!!!!

After a long drive home where i got stuck in race traffic, i made lunch

Old cheddar and apple butter on multigrain bread with balsamic bbq sauce for dipping, mmmmmm
Drank coconut water

And then the medal and i went out with my mum!

It was the Brantford new homes tour

Medal loves fake food in show homes, just wish it had warned me before i tried to take a bite of the garlic bread

Medal wanted to show the new house off to my mum, even if it meant me getting soaking wet

Medal was in desperate need of caffeine so we hit up Starbucks

Once home i decided to make Katies yummy home made granola and Medal wanted to take photos

So the answer is yes i wore the medal all day and even though it makes me a total dork, i'm a proud runner dork and i'm 100% okay with that!

Alright so recipe for the day is another Buckwheat Bake and its magically delicious (don't worry its not lucky charms, hahaaaaa)

Strawberry Banana Buckwheat Bake
